The Post You Have Been Dyeing To Read…

I am sure you remember the bad photo of the yarn I spun all by myself. With the help of my beautiful assistant and using ingredients I had in the house I dyed it. NOTE; do not pick assistants for their looks as they tend to be impatient and ask “is it done now” at three min intervals.

Fill a bowl with a mixture of warm water and white vinegar, four whatevers of water to one of vinegar. Pop the wool in the bowl and squish down ’til the bubbles stop.

Check Facebook for half an hour or so, squeeze the water out (don’t ring it) and let it sit on a towel while you prepare the colours, just put the colour you want in a bowl of water, I was being fancy and decided to do self striping.

As you can see I was really clever and put the bowls on the microwave plate for transportation. I microwaved the wool for about fifteen min, but because my bowls were not the same size I had to top up the red one to stop it drying out.

You are supposed to wait until the water is clear but again I was having issues with the none matching bowls and decided the middle bowl (green) was good enough. When that’s done give your wool a rinse and put it on a towel to dry.

When it’s dry wind it in to a ball or cake and make your readers wait to see what you will make with it. Hahahahahaha.

Things to remember for next time, get some matching bowls, fill them to the top, sack the assistant.
